A Hint of Summer - The Lotion | Final Call
A Hint of Summer - The Lotion | Final Call
A nourishing body lotion and self-tanner in one product. Certified organic and filled with nourishing ingredients that strengthen and moisturize the skin while giving a natural summer glow – without the need for sun.
Effect:
A Hint of Summer gives you the feeling of summer all year round. Its natural DHA molecule creates a glow when it reacts with the peptides and amino acids that make up the epidermis, the upper layer of your skin. In addition, the silky lotion moisturizes and nourishes your skin with a wealth of active and natural extracts and oils. Sea buckthorn oil enriches the skin with antioxidants from vitamin C, and oil from organic Danish pears softens the skin while maintaining its natural moisture level. Açai oil gives the skin renewed energy with a boost of vitamins and minerals, while cucumber and chamomile extract reduce irritation and soothe the skin.
Fragrance:
A Hint of Summer has a discreet and delicate scent which derives from the natural ingredients it consists of – together with Rudolph Care's natural signature scent.
Consistency:
Light and velvety, absorbs quickly and is easy to apply.
Certifications:
A Hint of Summer carries the COSMOS Organic certification, which is your guarantee that the ingredients are grown responsibly and with respect for the environment. In addition, the product is labeled with the Vegan Trademark. Read more about our certifications here.

How to use
A Hint of Summer - The Lotion | Final Call
Apply A Hint of Summer – The Lotion to the entire body, or simply where you want a glow. Use the same amount as you would normally use body lotion. If you have fair skin, it may be beneficial to use a slightly smaller amount. Feel free to wash your hands between applications on legs and buttocks, the stomach, back, arms and chest. Allow the product to absorb and dry completely before getting dressed and going about your day.
Moisturize dry elbows, knees and ankles with body lotion before applying the self-tanner to ensure even glow on those spots.
Hands and feet: A tip to create a smooth transition to hands and feet is to switch to A Hint of Summer – The Classic and mix a single pump with hand cream or body lotion. Apply the mixture to hands and feet, avoiding nails. Remove residue from nails with a damp washcloth.
A smooth, clean base is beneficial to achieve an even glow. Try exfoliating the body before you begin your self tanning ritual – for example, use our nourishing and gentle Açai Body Scrub which removes dead skin cells and makes the skin silky smooth, as well as adds moisture and nourishment.
The color builds gradually and after 2-6 hours you will experience a sun-kissed glow that can be easily intensified and maintained with regular use. Try your way forward. A single application may be sufficient. If you want a more intense glow, we recommend repeating the routine 2-3 days in a row. If necessary, take a break for 2-3 days and resume the routine again.
A Hint of Summer FAQ
A Hint of Summer – The Lotion is not designed to be used on the face. Instead mix A Hint of Summer – The Classic with your day cream to achieve a beautiful summer glow on your face.
A Hint of Summer lasts between 2-3 days. After this, it is necessary to reapply to maintain the desired effect.
No, but you can mix our self tanning drops A Hint of Summer – The Classic with your sunscreen for the body.
The A Hint of Summer range consists of three self-tanners: The Classic, The Lotion and The Mousse. All three give a beautiful, natural summer glow, but there is a slight difference in application. The Classic is self-tanner drops for both face and body, which must be mixed with your daily face cream and/or body lotion. The Lotion is a two-in-one self-tanner and body lotion which gives glow and provides nourishing, active care for the skin. The Mousse is a lightweight, skin- nurturing self-tanning foam for the body with an intense glow. It can be applied on top of your body lotion or body oil.
Our A Hint of Summer series of drops, mousse and body lotion is Ecocert COSMOS Organic certified and Vegan Trademark certified. They don't carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel – and we would like to explain why.
At Rudolph Care, we perceive our certifications as a positive tool for education and change: a third party that guarantees that what we say and write about our products is true, just as the certifications help to emphasize the quality, effect and impact of our products in the world. We always develop our products to meet the standards of our core certifications – the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and Ecocert COSMOS Organic – but unfortunately it is not always possible to attain both. If we develop a fantastic product that both we and many of you love, our team of experts carefully evaluates the overall experience of the product, the exclusive ingredients, the effect and the quality before we make an addition or exclusion to its formula.
Our self tanning series doesn’t carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel due to the ingredient DHA (dihydroxyacetone), a sugar molecule that turns the skin golden brown, but which is suspected of developing potentially allergenic formaldehyde over time and depending on storage. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel therefore, as a precautionary measure, doesn't approve self-tanners containing DHA.
Formaldehyde is everywhere in our everyday life. It is formed naturally in the body, it is in our indoor climate, as well as in air pollution outside. It is a part of our food and is also found as an impurity in many cosmetic products, although it is neither added deliberately nor should it be there.
The Nordic Swan label's greatest task is to respond to the latest knowledge and development. More detailed studies are currently underway, and the new policy is based on a precautionary approach. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel ensures the safety of those who suffer from allergic reactions and/or contact dermatitis by no longer certifying products containing DHA.
If you know that you are predisposed to allergic reactions and/or have previously experienced contact dermatitis or other types of allergic reactions, you can do a patch test on your skin with some self tanner. If, on the other hand, you have never previously experienced allergic reactions when using our self tanning series, you can continue to safely use the series' products.
Rudolph Care's founder, Andrea Elisabeth Rudolph, says:
"When we develop products at Rudolph Care, we always aim to combine certifications that complement each other. It is part of Rudolph Care's DNA to care for both people and planet while creating products that are effective, luxurious and stimulate all the senses. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is a time-limited certification as ingredient requirements are continually evaluated and updated according to the latest developments. This underpins the Nordic Swan Ecolabel's very existence: to be watchful.
We believe that the self tanning series still lives up to Rudolph Care's requirements for responsible chemistry that is environmentally friendly and free from known endocrine disruptors. We also firmly believe that we continue to have some of the best natural self tanners on the market.”
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we generally recommend following the 'less-is-more' principle when choosing skincare products; choose as few products as possible. In our opinion, self-tanner is a 'nice-to-have' product and not necessary to provide your skin with the moisture and care it needs. Of course, it is always entirely up to you which products you use on your skin during your pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
