Gua Sha Q&A

Q: Which products can I use to massage with?

A: For facial massage we recommend that you use a facial oil – Facial Oil Delight and Açai Facial Oil are ideal. For the body, we recommend massaging with a body oil – the best Rudolph Care products for this are Body Oil and Açai Body Balm.

Q: Why is the gua sha tool made of rose quartz?

A: We decided to craft our gua sha tool from rose quartz for two reasons – because the material represents the Rudolph Care aesthetic, and naturally also for rose quartz’s holistic qualities. Rose quartz is said to promote love, tenderness, acceptance and harmony in the person who touches it. It is known for its association with the heart chakra, which holds the most powerful emotions such as unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness, trust and peace.

Q: How does the gua sha eliminate toxins?

A: When you massage the face and body with your gua sha, you stimulate your lymphatic system. The massaging action removes blockages in the lymphatic system, which makes your body more efficient at eliminating toxins.

Q: What time of day should I use my gua sha?

A: It’s up to you – the important thing is that you massage clean skin, especially when you massage the face. Many people use it in their morning routine where the rounded curves ‘wake up’ the skin naturally and deliberately – in the evening, you can massage the face gently and create the most tranquil conditions for a good night’s sleep. A body gua sha massage is good after a bath, but the opportunity usually arises in the evening before bedtime, when you can create tranquillity before sleep. Your gua sha can also be used for a gentle massage of sore muscles that require extra attention and relaxation.

Q: How often should I use my gua sha?

A: It’s absolutely up to you. Some use it every day, while others use it when they find time during a busy day. You can make using your gua sha part of your morning/evening routine or you can leave it on your night table to massage your face and body before bedtime. It’s your choice.

Q: How do I clean my gua sha?

A. Clean your gua sha after use with lukewarm water and mild soap. If you believe in the healing energies that rose quartz is said to possess, you can clean and recharge your gua sha by allowing it to soak in salt water made from 1 tsp. salt and 3 dl water for 24 hours. You can also recharge the stone’s energy by letting it sit out in the sunlight or moonlight.

Q: How much pressure should I use when I massage my body and face with my gua sha?

A: The intensity of your massage is entirely up to you – you can massage with gentle surface strokes or you can apply more pressure if you feel the need for it. What is most important is that you don’t press so hard that you “pull” the skin – this can feel uncomfortable and damage your skin’s structure over time.
