A RESTAURANT

Graziano
A simple Italian restaurant where everything is executed with remarkable precision. Even a dish as humble as cacio e pepe becomes a work of art. Tucked away on a small street in Nørrebro, Graziano feels like a well-kept secret – a little Italian haven in the heart of Copenhagen.

A CAFÉ

Thiemers Magasin – Tullinsgade
This former bookstore has become a café while keeping a wonderful selection of books, including titles in English. It sits just off Værnedamsvej, one of my favorite streets in Copenhagen.

Union Kitchen – Vodroffsvej
I also love this spot, which recently opened near my sons’ school. It hasn’t drawn the crowds yet, so you can enjoy a quiet moment before the day really begins.

A BAR

Wilders
When I stroll around Christianshavn, whose little streets and canals capture the soul of Copenhagen for me, I often stop at this bar, which is a true institution.

PLACES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Dyrehaven
This vast park north of Copenhagen feels like another world, with its centuries-old oak trees, wide clearings, and freely roaming animals. Every Tuesday morning, I head there to go horseback riding.

Søndermarken
One of my favorite places in Copenhagen: a park that seems to follow its own rules rather than those of a typical urban green space. It has kept something wild and untamed. In winter, we go sledding here, and on the first warm days, we catch tiny tadpoles.

The Carlsberg District
We visit the Carlsberg District very often, where my children love seeing the brewery’s famous horses. It has become one of our little rituals.

Experimentarium and Copenhagen Contemporary
Both offer wonderful exhibitions, and the activities for children are especially well done.

THINGS TO DO FOR FUN

Kalvebod Brygge
Some mornings, my swimming club meets on the swimming pier at Kalvebod Brygge, and we jump straight into the harbor. Swimming in the harbor is part of everyday life for many Copenhageners and one of the things I love most about the city. We light a fire, drink piping-hot coffee, share warm bread, and watch the city slowly wake up. There is something truly special and precious about those mornings together.

Tivoli
I’m so fascinated by the fact that there is a magical amusement park right in the heart of the city. It is so beautifully preserved – both nostalgic and full of life.

Skydebanehaven and Enghaveparken
The first has a fantastic playground with a paddling pool that is filled with water in summer. The second gets an ice rink in winter, complete with ice disco nights.

A CHILDREN’S STORE

Bøf
Bøf is Danish for “steak,” but it is also an affectionate nickname for children. The name captures a particular Danish blend of humor and tenderness, reflected in the store’s thoughtfully chosen selection of lovely children’s brands.

SHOPPING

Lafine
I recommend this store, owned by my friend Yvonne Koné. Her approach is rooted in the principle of “less is more,” and you can feel it in every one of her creations. The simple, timeless pieces are made in Italy and have an understated elegance, without ever compromising on quality.

Kokoon
This small Danish brand has no physical store, but it is well worth discovering. Its knitwear and silk pieces are something special.

Jerome Vintage
A place worth knowing for its expertly curated selection, whether you’re looking for an Yves Saint Laurent jacket or the perfect pair of Levi’s jeans.

Time’s Up Vintage
A store I visit when I’m looking for something bolder or more unexpected from Hermès, Chanel, or Dior.

A LITTLE FURTHER AFIELD …

Pension Kildegaarden – Tisvildeleje
It feels a little like my second home. Surrounded by nature, it is one of the few places where I can switch off completely. Time seems to slow down here, and in summer, the town becomes a paradise with a unique energy.

Svinkløv Badehotel
A true Danish gem overlooking the sea on the country’s west coast. This beautiful seaside hotel is just as captivating for its wonderfully preserved atmosphere as for its excellent food. The surrounding dunes provide the most beautiful setting.
