With Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion SPF 30, we've combined a moisturizing, protective sun lotion with an easy, intuitive self-tanner that gives a radiant, natural summer glow. How to use
Apply Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion SPF 30 minutes before going out in the sun. Be thorough when applying, so the cream is distributed evenly over the body. You can also choose to use Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion just on your legs, if they're particularly lacking a summer glow, and protect the rest of your body with regular sun protection. Let the product dry completely before getting dressed, and remember to wash your hands afterward so the self-tanner doesn't settle in your palms and between your fingers. Supplement your sun protection with another sun product without self-tanner throughout the day if you spend a long time in the sun, swim, sweat, or dry yourself with a towel. The glow builds gradually and can be seen after 2–6 hours.

Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion is not suitable for beach trips. Due to the self-tanning effect, the product is ideal for use at home before going out in the sun. We recommend all other Rudolph Care sun products for your beach trip.
Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion contains SPF, protecting against the sun's UVA and UVB rays. A Hint of Summer does not, but both provide the same delightful summer glow.
Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion is developed as body sun protection, so we generally do not recommend using it on the face. If you want a summer glow on your face, you can mix A Hint of Summer – The Classic with Sun Face Cream to get both self-tanning effects and sun protection at the same time.
No. It is essential to apply another Rudolph Care sun product during the day if you spend a long time in the sun, sweat, swim, or use a towel to dry.
Sunscreen filters can stain and transfer onto clothing and other items. Therefore, let the sunscreen dry completely before putting on clothes. Consider your choice of clothing and towels – perhaps leave the most delicate clothing, the silk-white dress, and the white towels at home. You can also minimize the risk of stains by washing your hands after application. If accidents happen, we recommend the following:
- Apply plenty of liquid detergent for colored fabrics directly to the stain and let it work overnight – possibly in a closed plastic bag. This causes the fabric fibers to swell, making it easier for the discoloration to loosen.
- Wash the garment according to the instructions on the fabric label.
- Repeat the process 2-3 times if necessary.
Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion carries the Vegan Trademark certification. It does not carry the Ecocert COSMOS Organic nor the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, and we would like to explain why.
Self Tanning Sun Body Lotion does not carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel because the certification does not approve the ingredient DHA, which is the sugar compound that gives the skin a golden hue. DHA is suspected—over time and depending on storage conditions—to potentially develop allergenic formaldehyde. As a precaution, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel does not approve self-tanners containing the sugar molecule DHA.
Formaldehyde is present everywhere in our daily lives. It is naturally produced in the body, found in our indoor environment, in the air as pollution, and is part of our food. It also exists as an impurity in many cosmetic products, even though it is neither intentionally added nor should it be there.
The primary task of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel is to respond to the latest knowledge and developments. More detailed studies are still being conducted, and as mentioned, based on a precautionary principle and out of concern for people who suffer from allergic reactions and/or contact dermatitis, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel will not certify products containing DHA.
The reason the product does not carry the Ecocert COSMOS Organic certification is the same reason our sun series does not carry the organic certification: at Rudolph Care, we do not agree with COSMOS’ sunscreen filter policy. They only approve physical sun filters, whereas at Rudolph Care, we have chosen to use 5 effective chemical filters that neither feel greasy, sticky, nor leave a white residue, and at the same time, effectively protect against both UVA and UVB rays. All 5 chemical filters are approved by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, ensuring that they are the more environmentally friendly choice and do not contain endocrine disrupting substances or allergenic fragrance compounds.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we generally recommend following the 'less-is-more' principle when choosing skincare products; choose as few products as possible. In our opinion, self-tanner is a 'nice-to-have' product and not necessary to provide your skin with the moisture and care it needs. Of course, it is always entirely up to you which products you use on your skin during your pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
