Interview
Skincare Wardrobe:
Thea Munch
The holistic therapist keeps her gua sha in the fridge, uses the same product every morning in the shower (because it gives her glow!) and shares her love of SPF in serum form.
Meet Thea Munch, who lives in Christianshavn in Copenhagen with her husband, son and dog.
- The Gua Sha -
Why is a gua sha part of your routine?
“Gua sha is a brilliant tool for working with tension in the fascial tissue and helping reduce fluid retention, but also for working the skincare I use into the tissue. In that way it’s a bit of a win-win, while also forcing me to take a moment for myself in an otherwise busy day.”
How do you use it?
“On my face I focus on my jaw, cheekbones, brow bone and my worry line. On the body it’s wonderful to use on, for example, tired legs! My gua sha lives permanently in the fridge, so it feels nicely cooling on the skin.”
And with which products?
“Always plenty of oil, so you don’t ‘pull’ on the tissue and cause unnecessary wear. Açai Facial Oil is brilliant for this.”
- Spring -
How does your routine change in spring?
“The heavier creams are swapped for lighter ones. The layers become less rich, and my skin needs less moisture. It’s a bit like the feeling of shedding a heavy winter coat and putting on a lighter spring jacket.”
How can you tell that your skin needs something different?
“It simply feels less tight and dry. Everyone’s skin is different and has different needs. My biggest challenge is that I tend to have dry skin, so spring and summer are always very welcome because they make my skin issues less pronounced.”
What do you reach for in the morning?
“The VERY FIRST thing I do in the morning is use a little Açai Facial Mist, because that actually allows me to postpone my full morning skincare routine until after I’ve dropped my son off at daycare. It hydrates just enough so that my skin doesn’t feel tight and dry until I shower and apply my skincare.”
What is essential in the evening?
“Ingredients that can work undisturbed overnight, for example Time To Glow Peeling Mask. It really creates little miracles overnight, no matter how poorly you’ve slept (believe me, I’ve tried it!). The glow I wake up with is quite miraculous, considering the rather mediocre sleep I’ve had since becoming a mother 2.5 years ago.”
What is your order of products?
“I have several different kinds of products in the same categories; mist, serum, cream, oil, but the order never changes. I like to build layers, and I’d rather build them up gently than apply thick layers.”
- Sun -
How do you integrate SPF into your routine?
“I swear by Sun Face Serum! In the summer I usually just use mist, a light serum and Sun Face Serum as the final layer. It hydrates really well, doesn’t feel greasy and doesn’t interfere with the makeup I apply afterwards. As soon as the sun breaks through in the early spring months, I actually use it as the final step in my skincare routine, even though technically it’s a serum. It just works really well for me.”
What makes it easy for you to use SPF?
“It’s easiest to use SPF when it’s lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. Maybe that’s why I’m so fond of Sun Face Serum. I also love SPF in balm format, for example Sun Balm, which can easily be dabbed onto lips, nose and other exposed areas, or even tapped onto cheekbones and collarbones for a lovely glow.”
- Rudolph Care -
What are your favorite products – the ones you return to again and again?
“My first and greatest love in the Rudolph range is Açai Facial Scrub Mask, which I use as a mask in the shower every morning. After leaving it on for 3-5 minutes, I rinse it off, and it gives seriously good hydration and serious glow. Besides that, Sun Face Serum is a huge favorite. I love how light and fluid it is and how beautifully it sits on the skin. And Time To Glow Peeling Mask is truly a rescue for a tired mother! Hallelujah for effective ingredients!”
